Ask what an accountant does β and you'll get a shrug. We wanted to change that.
The heroes nobody drew
There are people who quietly stand between a family and disaster. The one who spots the charge that shouldn't be there. The one who reads the fine print out loud, slowly, until it makes sense. The one who makes sure a home stays a home after the worst day of someone's life.
They don't wear capes and nobody makes cartoons about them. So we made one.
Because most of us learned the hard way
Ask an adult how they learned about money and you'll usually hear a story with a bruise in it β the first bad loan, the missed payment, the contract signed too fast. Almost always followed by the same seven words: βI wish someone had told me sooner.β
Money isn't hard because it's complicated. It's hard because nobody explains it early, in words small enough to hold. But a four-year-old already understands fair and unfair. A six-year-old understands borrowed and paid back. An eight-year-old can absolutely tell you why someone who won't let you read something slowly is probably hiding something in it.
Start there, and the big words take care of themselves later.
We'd like this to be the generation that doesn't have to say it.
Every Mender is a real job
Not one of the six is invented. Behind every gold suit is a profession a child could grow into β and each one protects something different.
These are the professions that change the course of a family's life. Not with sirens β with a question asked at the right moment. We think kids should meet them the same way they meet astronauts and firefighters: early, and as heroes.
We're just getting started
Episode 1 is the very beginning of this. There's a whole season of Maple Hollow ahead β more trouble for Flash Cash to cause, more of the team to meet, and more money powers for kids to collect along the way.
If you're reading this now, you're early. Thank you for that. Every kid who watches an episode, plays a challenge and earns a card is the entire reason this exists. We can't wait to show you what comes next.
About CHIP
Money Mendersβ’ is made by CHIP β Changing How Individuals Prosper. The name is the whole mission: prosperity shouldn't depend on who happened to explain money to you, or when.
CHIP exists to put practical money knowledge into the hands of people who've been left out of that conversation. Money Menders is our work for the youngest audience β because the earlier it starts, the less it has to be undone later.
